///Handsome Devil This is another show that I don't remember much about. I seem to remember that we didn't arrive in Oxford until the evening, so it was pretty much turn up at the venue, get our gear together and go in. The guest list got us onto the top balcony. There must have been seats, but I remember a low ceiling and standing. We didn't get much of a view from where we were, but the sound was pretty good, so I think the recording is quite good. I'm not sure we were aware that the show was being recorded for the radio from the start ... some of the other shows that were recorded, like Glasgow, we saw radio trucks outside the venue, and chatted with the people who were doing the recording. We probably would have noticed something here if we'd turned up a bit earlier. It's hardly worth commenting about the show itself, as its probably one of the most widely heard of Smiths bootlegs. I did consider skipping this one, but it's always nice to hear the full show Once again this was recorded using a Sony Professional Walkman with Sony EMC-929LT Mic onto Metal tape.

First thing in the morning I'll be planting a tree in my garden in your honour, Steve, and you'll always be free to come over and take a branch out when you're too hot!

"This will all be relevant someday" I've heard those official tracks so many times. It's interesting to hear them continue into the odd Moz comment. Do other people have a speed problem 2 minutes into Still Ill? Track 13. As ever, thanks Steve.

Steve, If this torrent site was a movie, you'd have the starring role...!
Thanks a bunch...!

I haven't had a chance to listen to the whole show but I just double checked Still Ill and it's definitely way, way too fast from the 2 min mark until the end....

Could this have something to do with it being the end of the cassette side?

I seem to remember having some problems with the tape at this show ... I think it was this one anyway. You turn the cassette over so fast that you don't put it back in quite right ... so could be that the casette took a little while to settle in correctly and thus was going too slow (and would play back too fast) until it did.

Wouldn't in that case the playback of the first song on side 2 be affected? Now, the problem is with the last song on side 1. Not that it really matters, as this isn't one of the three songs hitherto unvailable.

What makes you think it was the last song on side one ... it wasn't. It was the first song on side 2.
