I have an excellent sounding version of London (Peel 2/12/86), it was taken from a bootleg called "Demos and Rarities 1983-1987".
I'm still wondering where the people who made that bootleg got this track from. It sounds almost like an official release, but there never was one ...

David A,
Is the version of London you're referring to the same one thats one the "Shoplifters from Manchester" cd? I haven't been able to find a track listing for that boot with complete notes on where those tracks came from.

Erm... I didn't refer to London anywhere did I?
Anyway, Shoplifters from Manchester does indeed include a good Peel Sessions version of London. It's seeded here.

It is the same track ray_afraid, but I'm not sure from memory how good the version on 'Shoplifters From Manchester' was though.

It's pretty good, but has a slight crackle.

Did anything come of the efforts to compile the complete sessions? Did the project fade away sometime last year...? I'd also love to have the complete collection. :)

Another bump for this - did the project ever get completed? I have Akiraware's Complete BBC Sessions CD but I don't believe these are the best sounding versions available. Correct me if I'm wrong?
Would love to have these sessions all in one place, all in the best quality. Does such a compilation exist?
cheers,
john

Even if you get all the tracks together and omit the Sandie Shaw songs you won't get it all on one disc.
You probably realise this by now.

Hello all,
I guess I am late to "this party"...
Can someone guide me where to download (torrent or MU; RS links here are dead) the best sounding BBC sessions by the Smiths?
Sandie Shaw's appearences are welcome...
Of course, just the non official ones... I have the originals except Sandie's and "Last Night" single... Why record companies make life so difficult for us?
I would like to compile them in a single CD...
Thanks in advance all you guys Smiths experts.
All the best,
btlg0001

I put a couple of Sandie Shaw versions here.
Notes on where to find the others are listed further up this thread.
