The Smiths
Festival of the 10th Summer
G-Mex, Manchester
19 July 1986
FM/1, STEREO
intro (The March Of The Capulets) /1
Bigmouth Strikes Again /2
Panic
Vicar In A Tutu
Frankly, Mr. Shankly
There Is A Light That Never Goes Out /3
Ask
I Want The One I Cant Have
Cemetry Gates
Shakespeares Sister
Stretch Out And Wait /4
That Joke Isnt Funny Anymore
The Queen Is Dead /5
I Know Its Over
Hand In Glove
Bonus: New Order, with some "razormaid-type" mix of The Perfect Kiss. Not sure which DJ service this was
from. Anybody who knows me will understand why I wouldnt dream of leaving this out, but this was actually
the filler on the cassette, so Ive preserved it.
This is an improvement on the two other FM versions which are available on the tracker (Steve and Douglas),
in that its stereo and runs at the right speed. Unfortunately, its not 100 percent pristine as several tracks
have significant dropouts, and which would explain why the other versions were presented as mono.
* intro (The March Of the Capulets): 1:45 - 1:50, right channel dropout
* Bigmouth Strikes Again: 1:45 - 1:50, right channel dropout
* Stretch Out And Wait: 0:14 - 0:30, right channel dropout, 1:10, brief left channel dropout, 1:37 - 1:42, tape chew in FM/0
* That Joke Isnt Funny Anymore: 0:07, FM static
Includes scans of insert, while that is labelled Realistic aka Radio Shack (RIP), the tape itself is a TDK "D" C60,
labelled as FM/1. Tape supplied by Tim McKenzie, unknown who his source was, but the capture seems to be
different than whats out there, though its definitely from the same broadcast that the Douglas version was
taken from. Digitized with my Nakamichi Dragon deck.
The Douglas version has tiny bit more of "The March Of The Capulets" at the start and the outro from the announcer
after "Hand In Glove". I have not edited out any of the announcers or bits of ads that remain...these are presented as is.
Ive indicated breaks in the program content by using the / symbol:
/1 - After "March...", tease for upcoming New Order recording.
/2 - After "Bigmouth...", we have the first station break, and an ad mentioning "house-hunting" can briefly be heard.
/3 - Theres another break after "There Is A Light..." with another brief ad snippet.
/4 - Another one after "Stretch Out..." with the tiniest bit of commercial break.
/5 - "The Queen Is Dead" is abruptly cut like the others shortly before the 5:00 mark, midway during Johnnys wah-wah solo,
followed by the station ID, and a tiny bit of intro which is ACRs "Flight"...which may have been on whatever was taped over.
Enjoy!
