Wondered about which version is which.
I understand the original single version is exactly the same as the "Manchester" version, but is this the same recording used as track 6 on the debut album cd?
The Peel and London versions are obviously different recordings and easy to define, and the New York remixes also.
But what is the single remix???? It seems to have appeared just once on WEA YZ 0001 CD2 in 1992 and also to me sounds instrumentally and vocally more like the London version than any other.
Any Ideas??

"London" was the first recording, done with John Porter at Matrix Studios in London. However Geoff Travis didn't like it very much and the band re-recorded the song in Manchester a week later, this version being the "Manchester" version that was released as a single. I think it's that version that appears on the first album (of course it wasn't on the album originally.)
There are other mixes available. These were released on double CD many years ago and includes "Single remix" and "Original single version", the latter sounding just like "Manchester" to me. I agree that "Single remix" is probably just a remix of "London", if you can call smothering everything in reverb a remix!
I've always preferred the Peel version myself.

Thanks for that Halloway, I like to create my own compilations of non album "A" and "B" sides in chronological order for all the bands I like so this helps a lot.

Love that live recording which has them play TCM the Peel Session way.

The single version is the Manchester version, and the single remix is a mix of the London and Manchester versions. I don't feel like pulling my cd-single out, but I think I remember it starting with the London version and then morphing into the Manchester version.

Single remix sounds like the London version throughout to me, but they're not 100% the same.

Same here. A really pointless remix, not sure if it existed before the CD single reissue.
Not keen on the London version at all tbh.

I got a big kick out of this mashup - Eminem's "Without Me" set to the music of TCM.
