I contacted this seller on eBay to find out more about the DVDs he was selling.
I know steve the guy who shot the 7 1986 shows. He lent the master copy to ITV for the south bank show. Plus he let another guy borrow the master of Kilburn to dub the rank album over but charged him about 1000 quid depostit. He hasnt put them on to dvd yet & If he does I dont think he will let them out ? I have Wollverhamption & Nottingham from very early gen. I send some screen shots.
Interesting. I'll see if I can get an early-gen version of Brixton 12/12/86.

I've been looking for the Brixton Academy gig for quite some time. I have a horrible copy on VHS that I was going to transfer, but the quality was so poor that it kept dropping the video signal. It would be amazing if someone posted a torrent of that show. If it was NTSC it would be that much better. :)

You could buy it from that ebay guy, but I doubt the quality is great.
I have the show on DVD, but it's pretty rubbish quality (see attached).

Sadly, that's better quality than mine. Could I get you to post it?

no one has 'borrowed' the masters and no one has given me 1000 quid ... more's the pity

Hello
First posting here.
Great to see a reply from Steve (is it really him?). I well remember trading tapes with Steve back in the 80's and got 6 of the 1986 gigs from him - Palladium 26/10, Brixton 24/10, Nottingham 21/10, Salford 20/7, Wolverhampton 15/10 and Brixton 12/12. Still have the tapes to this day and have now transferred them to DVD. but what was the 7th show I'm missing here?

Yes, that's Steve from Soundsville International.
There's only six shows. What is the quality like on those DVDs?

I think the quality is really good. They are from Steve's original tapes and are pretty clear shots. I used to trade a lot of tapes back then and well remember that these were some of the closest shots I'd seen at the time - remember camcorders were brutes then. Great gigs.......they really show the passion of a Smiths gig.

Steve, didn't know about those other two. It would be great to edit the BBC recording of that Kilburn gig and sync it to your footage.
Mackem1999, I patiently await your uploads ;)

And Mackem1999, I'll gladly help you out if you don't know how to, or cannot, seed DVD's ;-).
I've had Palladium 26/10 and Brixton 12/12 on VHS for ages (and like them very much - kudos to the taper!!), but sadly they're n-th generation and I don't know how to do transfers to DVD myself...
