Jesus... Thats a tragedy, its hard to believe there isn' a single pro shot in circulation. Is this place like Livenirvana.com where people try to track down live recordings and search to the ends of the earth or does everyone just share whats avaliable.
Indie/alternative bands back then didn't tend to record & release live videos, wasn't part of the ethic.
The Cure and REM were notable exceptions but they were on major record labels when their live videos came out i believe, and they were more into playing stadums whereas The Smiths preferred to play venues they could sell-out many times over for the intimacy with the crowd.
Dunno about the "searching", all the crowd-shot Smiths videos were filmed by Steve and his mate, the one i'd recommend from The Queen Is Dead would be London Palladium, great visuals. The earlier Salford show is a great great gig as well.
