Here's another 1st gen analog recording from the same source as the 8/06/86 recording I posted a couple days ago. Again this is to fill in holes of un-torrented Smtihs shows.
17 June 1985
Beacon Theater, New York, USA
William, It Was Really Nothing
Nowhere Fast
I Want The One I Can't Have
What She Said
How Soon Is Now?
That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore
Stretch Out And Wait
Shakespeare's Sister
Rusholme Ruffians
The Headmaster Ritual
Hand In Glove
Still Ill
Meat Is Murder
/Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now
/This Charming Man
//Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want
//Miserable Lie
///Jeane
///Barbarism Begins At Home
The setlist in New York remained the same as it was on the previous gig in Boston. The recently reintroduced "Jeane" and "Barbarism Begins At Home" were again given to the fans as a third encore. Just as in Boston, The Smiths were very well received. Morrissey would even comment on this audience's enthusiasm during the next gig. He wasn't the most talkative throughout the evening, but thanked the crowd very often.
After "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore", Morrissey actually acknowledged his silence, saying "Thank you... you realise (cough) excuse me... you realise, that we're very shy people... and... we don't like to say too much... except em, 'Stretch Out And Wait'." His only other major banter of the evening was about main set closer "Meat Is Murder": "This song is for all you people who frequent that happy family abattoir, McDonalds".
Returning to the stage for the second encore, Morrissey, surprised by the welcome, started saying "What can we say?... except err...". Everything had been kept under reasonable control until this point, but now, sensing the end was near, fans started getting on stage, often interrupting Morrissey's singing. In both verses of "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want" Morrissey missed some lines because of the mayhem around him. The same happened during "Miserable Lie". After that song the band left stage again and were soon cheered back for a third encore. The concert finally ended with "Barbarism Begins At Home" during which Morrissey once or twice again had to fight his way back to his microphone.

Hmm, that's strange. I have a first gen of the second night of the Beacon and the set list is totally different or should I say the set list is totally messed up. All the same songs are there but in a completely different order.
Would The Smiths have done this kind of thing, i.e. alter the set list so radically ???
Cheers for the upload, very much appreciated :)

Yes, particularly if they are playing the same venue two nights in a row. I guess even then they knew many fans would attend both shows.
