It may depend on the client you are using (uTorrent seems never to have this problem) and also it may be because the address includes commas and/or apostrophes. Every now and again XP balks at them.
First off I would try removing any commas and apostrophes, if this fails try uTorrent as a client.
If there are no commas or apostrophes in the address and you are using uTorrent, I would start worrying about the drive you are trying to put the files onto.
