The more we share, the more others might contribute and in the end we'll all benefit.

I've already had this performance on dvd for long but now your post makes me hesitate and wonder which version is best (i guess this is the one).
thanks anyway
Well you're welcome to download it and compare. If your copy is better it would be nice if you could put it up here. I'm sure there's a better version of this show out there. It turns out quite a few people here already had this.
Stephane
I'll do that, ok. I really thought almost everyone here (or registered for a while now) halready had this.
I'll let you know if it's the same. It's on my external HD, i'll get it sooner or later, it's not here right now.

Haven't completed the download of this one yet but previous version was 2.22Gb big so this isn't the same.
Here's the txt file from the version some of us already have:
The Smiths
Arsenal (Basque TV)
TX: 4 October 1985
duration: 56'46"
This programme made for Spanish, or rather Basque, TV show "Arsenal" (which on another occasion hosted The Chameleons, who also make a cameo performance here; The Chameleons show has been officially released) intersperses concert footage (full songs!) recorded on 16 May 1985 at the Studio 54 in Barcelona, with interview sections featuring Morrissey & Marr.
Both sound and vision could be better, I guess, but this is all I've got and if anyone can improve on it, be my guest! Anyway, this is a cool programme and it is certainly watchable and listenable.
I did not do the original video transfer, but I did make a nice menu (I think), complete with background music (woo-hoo!). Check out the screenshots!
One last note: the producers of the "Arsenal" series seem to have had a strange preference for some kind of stuttering effect (those who have seen the Chameleons programme should know what I mean!), so when the interview bits start, you shouldn't feel the need to adjust your set: that's how it was meant to look & sound!
This is what it's all about:
1. intro
2. Montagues & Capulets
3. Hand In Glove
4. Handsome Devil
5. Johnny Marr
6. This Charming Man
7. Morrissey
8. Barbarism Begins At Home
9. Punk in Manchester
10. Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now
11. How Soon Is Now?
12. The music industry
13. Manchester music scene
14. Rusholme Ruffians
15. The Headmaster Ritual
16. Sandie Shaw
17. Hand In Glove (feat. Sandie Shaw)
18. Musical peers
19. Music videos
20. Punk Industry - What I Wouldn't Give
21. Miserable Lie
22. The Boy With The Thorn In His Side
And here are the technical details for all you video geeks out there:
Encoding mode: High Quality (2-Pass VBR)
Video mode: NTSC
Aspect ratio: 4:3
Quality: Standard play (5073 kbps)
Resolution: 720 x 480 (CCIR-601 D1)
Video Type: Interlaced MPEG2
Video Bitrate: 9.640 Mbps
Audio Type: Dolby Digital (AC-3) 2.0
Audio Bitrate: 256 Kbps
... but don't let that put you off. Enjoy!

Lazarus,
That's the Arsenal television special, it's not the same thing than what you are now downloading. I'm actually the one who put up that tv special on Smithstorrents last summer.
The Arsenal special features interviews with Morrissey and Marr with a few songs live in Barcelona. What you are downloading now is the full show from which the makers of Arsenal picked the live material. This is all explained at the beginning of this page.
So no need for you to share it after all, it's already here.

The cover star is the achingly beautiful Barbara Stanwyke. Hope you like it.
