I was looking on Passions at the lyrics to There Is A Light and read this at the bottom of the page:
Additional note:
In early demos of the song, Morrissey sang that chorus line as "There's a light in your eye and it never goes out".
I had a look at some other TQID tracks to find other notes about "earlier versions" with lyrical variations. Are these demos available on the net?

I think this info came from Simon Goddard, author of the excellent book Songs That Saved Your Life. His source came from a large stash of cassettes in a box owned by Smiths drummer Mike Joyce and amongst this box of stuff was things such as outtakes, alternate versions, demos and even a lost original composition! Joyce was about to start making the stuff available on the web but was suddenly blocked ad threatened with legal action, presumably by Moz and Marr. We'd all love to hear them! perhaps one day in a nice boxset.
