I don't remember that much about Aberdeen. The Capital Theatre in on a hill, with the front entrance on the main street, and the stage doors down the hill and round the back. We arrived there in time for the soundcheck, but the stage door is shut tight. The Smiths weren't there yet, so we waited, and eventually their tour bus turned up. They always park nice and close to the door, which was especially easy here, so the guys can dash in with as little hassle as possible. I think there's a picture of this on the Irvine DVD slideshow. Morrissey called over to me as he hurried in, which was nice. But once they were in the doors shut tight again, and there wasn't much point in hanging around.
Aberdeen seemed to have lots of nice, cheap pub/restaurants on the main street, so we found somewhere nice and settled down until the evening. The Theatre was an all seated venue, and when we arrived, they didn't seem to have any provision for those on the guest list. The hall slopes down to the stage, and I think they wanted us to stand at the back, but we wandered up to talk to Grant, and he was cool with us standing in the space in front of the Mixing desk, which was a pretty good place to record from. The gig itself was great, as most of the Scottish ones were. The crowd were up for a good time, and the hall felt nicely enclosed and packed. The band picked up on the energy and played with added urgency. I think I got quite a good recording of the night.
Again this was recorded using my Sony Professional Walkman with Sony EMC-929LT Mic onto Metal tape

Words alone are not enough to thank you for your continued generosity, Steve, so I'm going to perform a wild dance in front of my computer in gratitude!

Steve - clearly this is the master, but can you tell whether the (unknown generation) torrent of this gig previously seedeed here by DavidA is from your master tape (or a copy)?

Thanks Steve - on this day, I was 18 years and 8 days old, freshman year at college, when I just started getting into The Smiths. Cheers!
