The Smiths
Middlesborough Town Hall
8 March 1984
Lineage:
master tape -> (Goldwave sound editing software) -> CD-R -> WAV -> FLAC-6
Torrent created on 3 April 2007

Release Notes

This recording was sent to me a few years ago by the original bootlegger (who
also sent me the 1985 and 1986 Middlesborough concerts). It is not circulated
at this point in time. A recording circulated under this date on the internet
is actually from Newcastle the night before.
The sound quality is reasonable for an audience recording from 1984. The main
flaw is the tape hiss.

8 March 1984
Town Hall, Middlesbrough
Hand In Glove
Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now
Girl Afraid
This Charming Man
Pretty Girls Make Graves
Still Ill
This Night Has Opened My Eyes
Barbarism Begins At Home
Back To The Old House
What Difference Does It Make?
/Reel Around The Fountain
//You've Got Everything Now
//Handsome Devil
This concert went down quite well despite problems with troublemakers in the
crowd at the beginning of the show. Morrissey even had to warn the audience
after "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now": "Look, this is very jolly but, anybody
who spits, we're going home to bed, so pppttt...". As an introduction to
"Still Ill", Morrissey shouted the song's title fast and loudly. "This Night
Has Opened My Eyes" was introduced with the words "And this is where things
get terribly serious". After the song Morrissey enquired "Does anybody have
anything to say?" After "What Difference Does It Make?", Morrissey shouted
"Goodbye!" then the Smiths left stage. They returned for a one-song encore
of "Reel Around The Fountain", then left again. They soon gave in to demand
and returned for two more songs. At the end of the first one "You've Got
Everything Now", the band didn't even pause, they segued straight into the
final number, "Handsome Devil".

Stephane, is this direct from the master or is it 1st gen? Also, can you identify the person that recorded it, by initials?

David,
Yes this is from the master. The guy sent me his three masters and I converted them myself and sent them back to him.
I unfortunately lost the information on who sent them to me, otherwise I would have credited him on PJLM.
Is it too early to ask you what you are working on?
